Andrew reflects on two years as Federal Member for Fisher

It will be two years on Monday since Federal Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace was first elected to Parliament. Mr Wallace has in that time delivered more than $3.6 billion in Federal funding for the Coast, given 211 speeches in Parliament, attended almost 500 meetings and events in the electorate of Fisher, and brought Federal Ministers, including the Prime Minister, to the Coast 23 times.

Wallace calls for immediate publication of overdue Bruce Highway planning study

Andrew Wallace, Federal Member for Fisher has called on Queensland Labor Minister Mark Bailey to immediately release the results of a planning study into upgrades to the Bruce Highway between Caloundra and Pine Rivers, following allocation of an additional $880 million for the project, as well as $150 million for the Murrumba Downs section, in this year’s Federal Budget. The planning study was commissioned in 2016 and was supported with $6.4 million from the Federal Government.

Federal MP questions Council’s commitment to CCTV and calls for summit

Federal Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace has questioned the Sunshine Coast Council’s commitment to the delivery of CCTV in Caloundra following yesterday’s highly qualified motion in support of the project. The Caloundra Chamber of Commerce’s proposal for CCTV in Bulcock St is due to be delivered under a Federal Government grant of $140,000.

$487,500 for young people with autism on the Sunshine Coast

STEPs Group in Caloundra will receive a grant of $487,500 from the Federal Government for a project to support some of the 700 young people estimated to live with autism on the Sunshine Coast. Federal Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace announced the grant under the Strong and Resilient Communities program at the STEPS Pathways College today.

Google Visit Sunshine Coast at Federal MP''s invitation

Boost for Sunshine Coast’s critical fishing industry

Owners of the Sunshine Coast’s commercial fishing fleet, the largest on the Eastern coast of Australia, are celebrating this week following the passing of the Federal Government’s marine parks management plan. The new plan, passed by the Senate yesterday, will increase the size of protected marine parks by 200,000 square kilometres while also substantially expanding the area open to commercial and recreational fishers.

Premier’s Office confirms Sunshine Coast Council gambling meeting

The Office of the Premier of Queensland has confirmed in a letter to Federal Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace, that representatives of the Sunshine Coast Council, and officers of its wholly owned developer SunCentral, met with gambling corporation NagaCorp in 2017 to discuss opportunities in the new Maroochydore CBD development.

Iconic Glasshouse Mountains celebrated in new federally funded publication

A new community-published book celebrating the history and significance of the Glasshouse Mountains will be formally launched on Wednesday 4 April at 2pm, at an afternoon tea at Beerwah Library. The book, written by Beerwah local Ivon Northage and published by Celebrate Glasshouse Country Inc, was supported by a Federal Government grant of $10,289 under the Community Heritage and Icons Grant program.

Federal wage subsidy supports more than 740 on Sunshine Coast off welfare

Since 1 July 2015, 741 job placements have been made in the Sunshine Coast Federal electorate of Fisher thanks to the support of a Commonwealth Government wage subsidy. In total more than 100,000 of the most disadvantaged Australians, many long-term unemployed welfare recipients, have gained a job through the Turnbull Government’s wage subsidy program since 2015.

Maleny resident Jacky Vonhoff’s photograph of the Glass House Mountains, taken from the Maleny Botanic Gardens, has been declared the winner of Federal Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace’s 2017 Christmas Card Competition. The competition asked Sunshine Coast residents to submit photographs that showcase our beautiful region.
