HELP ME DEliver the public transport we need on the Sunshine Coast - Heavy RAIL on the Camcos corridor

No-one could deny that public transport on the Sunshine Coast is a mess. People are voting with their feet and while the buses and trains that we have are less than half full, our local roads and the Bruce Highway are gridlocked. There is not enough public transport on the Sunshine Coast and it does not go where Sunshine Coast locals need to get. I am fighting for a real public transport plan that would transform our community – heavy rail from Brisbane, via Beerwah, along the already reserved CAMCOS land corridor to Caloundra, Kawana, and Maroochydore. Heavy rail on the Coast would not only allow us to get around the region and to Brisbane sooner and safer, but it would form the foundation of a better and stronger Sunshine Coast in the years to come.It would provide public transport for the same sections of the community as light rail but with an important difference. Heavy rail would connect locals via the North Coast line to Brisbane, taking cars off the Highway and the coastal roads that connect to it. The CAMCOS corridor is illustrated below:

If you agree with me that we need heavy rail on the Sunshine Coast, sign my petition below and help me demonstrate our community's support.

Help me get action from the Queensland Labor Government on the North Coast Rail

The Liberal National Coalition Government has committed $390 million to the duplication of the railway line between Beerburrum and Nambour. When completed this will deliver a faster, more reliable and more frequent service of trains between the Coast and Brisbane to get you home sooner and safer. But the Queensland State Labor Government have allocated only $156 million or 20% of the cost of this duplication, despite the fact that the rail is wholly owned and operated by the State. If the Queensland Labor Government cared about the Sunshine Coast, they’d be meeting us halfway for what is after all a State Government project.

Sign my petition to send a message to the Queensland Labor Government to get on with their job and deliver a fair funding deal for North Coast Rail today.

Help me Bust Congestion on Caloundra Roads

Every day, the roads around Caloundra are choked with congestion, and the State Government is doing nothing to help.

Enough is enough.

In the past two years I’ve worked hard to deliver $3.4 billion from the Federal Government to add extra lanes to the Bruce Highway, and upgrade congested intersections between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. But locals know its just as important that we bust congestion on the State Government roads around Caloundra.

We need to work together to find a solution and put pressure on the Queensland State Government to do something about Caloundra’s gridlock now. Help me send the Queensland Government a message by signing my petition today.

I believe that the Council’s plan to change the character of the Sunshine Coast by building a casino at their Maroochydore development is emerging as one of the biggest threats to the future of our community. A casino on the Coast would add to the cost of living pressures on many of our hard-working families, increase crime and anti-social behaviour, and drive up drug and alcohol abuse. This plan risks driving more family breakdowns, and increasing rates of mental and physical ill health.

Family life is difficult in modern times, we don't need to compound those difficulties by establishing more mechanisms of misery. I have spoken to many local people about this at meetings around our community and the feedback I have received tells me that Sunshine Coast residents do not want a casino here. We are not the Gold Coast, nor should we want to be.  I strongly encourage everyone to sign my petition and to get involved
