Major renovations for Conondale Pool under a re-elected Morrison Government

Conondale Pool will undergo a complete transformation under a re-elected Liberal National Government following a funding commitment of $170,000. The commitment was announced today by Federal Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace during a visit to the aging facility.

Mr Wallace said that the Conondale Pool is a true hub for the Hinterland township and a vital part of its health and fitness infrastructure.

“Conondale Pool gives young families and older people in this small community a fantastic place to come together and to stay fit and healthy. Swimming is great exercise for body and mind and I want to make sure that all Fisher residents have the opportunity to get involved, whether they live by the beach or on the other side of the Range.” Mr Wallace said.

“Louise Sanderson and the Conondale Pool Committee work very hard keeping this important facility open but we all know that it is worn out and desperately needs an upgrade. I want to congratulate the Pool Committee for their passionate advocacy on behalf of this project, and to thank the Morrison Government for making this commitment to Hinterland locals.”

The desperately needed renovations will include a complete replacement of the interior surface of the pool, new tiling, lane and depth markers, new starting blocks, new pool surrounds and a total replacement of the filtration system.

Conondale Sport and Rec Club President Louise Sanderson said “I want to say thank you for this because it really is a big thing for our community. We have a lot of groups that come and use the pool from Aqua Ladies, to Squad, to Learn to Swim as well as all the people who swim at the weekend, so it will be a big boost for our community.”

Conondale Sport and Rec Club Treasurer Brendon Guy said “The thing about the Sport and Rec Club is that it brings the community together. We’ve got a lot of dairy farmers in our area that sometimes don’t get the opportunity to interact regularly and places like this give them that chance. So, it’s important that we keep this going and a grant such as this gives us that continuity into the future.”

Mr Wallace said “This funding commitment for the Conondale Pool is only possible because of the Morrison Government’s plan for a stronger economy and the surplus we are delivering in this Federal Budget. We are paying down debt and growing the economy and that means we can afford to deliver for the Sunshine Coast.”

“Bill Shorten and Labor refuse to even tell Sunshine Coast residents what the cost of their policies are. With plans for $387 billion in new taxes on small and family businesses, retirees, housing, income, investments, electricity and cars, they pose the greatest risk to Australia’s economy in a generation.”

“Only the Liberal National Government can continue to deliver on the critical projects we need on the Coast, from upgrades to the Bruce Highway to these renovations for Conondale Pool.” he said.
